what ever is better

okay, so i've spent a lot of time on this page and why? i dunno. if you browse the net for a while you'll find that there's thousands of geeks like me posting their lame interests on the internet. there's so many 'blogs' out there that nobody could possibly read them all. so now i feel like a brick in the wall. no more rhyming and i mean it. anybody want a peanut?

i found my own FREE blog program that i'll run on my server as soon as i can learn to use it properly. so despite my realization, i will continue to clutter the www with my own version of 'dull living'. maybe i'll find a large group of people who are just dying to see what i'll write about next, and they'll donate money to me just to keep me supported while i stare at my compter screen.

as fascinating as the web-world is, and i can spend hours and hours wasting time this way if i choose to do so, i cannot deny the urge to just walk outside and see what is around me. there's a conflict here - i am obsessed with my own website (a subconscious addiction?) and i'd rather be camping.

so now what? update: i am close to publishing "spring summit" pictures! until next time...(you may see a completely different blog format next time).

sunday is today

and being sunday i went to church. afterwards i went to the park and read an awesome talk given by Jeffrey R. Holland in 1988. it was about knowledge and learning and how we will always be learning, here and in the eternities.
well that made me feel better about homework.
i put some new pictures on my website.
i visited some people today with my roomies. got to know some neighbors.
i cooked myself an awesome omlet burrito today.

No Time

...to do pretty much anything fun. but that's the way it is during transitions in life. right now i'm moved in and starting fall classes. my first day was an immediate stress load so i tweaked my schedule and dropped a few credit hours. now i'm happy (ier). i tried out for drum line. now i practice with the group at 645 am each morning. it's hard to keep up but worth it.

i hiked table rock last saturday and hope to be publishing the pics on my webpage soon. it's kinda like time suddenly sped up and i'm being left behind. if i want to do something it's always at the sacrifice of another priority. like how i'm not doing homework right now to write this blog.

but i feel it is important to be up to date with things. so here is a sample picture from the top of Table Rock Mountain...looking at the Teton mountains...

Work

I have been learning the skills of finish carpentry these past few days. working 12 hour days sometimes. it is hard but lots of fun. i love building things and doing a good job at it.

i'm leaving madison on 26 august and will not return until next summer - most probably.

painting and carpentry has been worthwhile this summer. thanks to all who helped.

A flying squirrel landed on me last night...

I was walking down state st. and i saw it out of the corner of my eye. it was a little baby flying squirrel. it landed on my leg, then jumped off and ran to the nearest tree. i was on my way to cold stone creamery with some friends for ice cream. that was the closest animal encounter in madison i've ever had.

so i guess this is what a blog is. i like the format. wish my website was this sophisticated. right now my website is a mess. i never have time to update anything. at least there are some pictures on it for everyone to see. http://www.theworldofbrian.com

i like the blog format though. all i have to do is enter text into this box. it's just like writing an email. no programming or anything. only disadvantage is the limited bells.
