CHRISTMAS DAY!

It's Christmas Day! Sterling and I stayed up late last night playing video games. So we slept in until 10AM. I don't think anybody started opening presents until noon. I made buckwheat almond pecan walnut banana pancakes :) and Jo made scrambled eggs.

As far as presents go I received mostly clothes. This time however I like them all. Docker pants and Arizona shirts. Plus some church clothes and 15 pairs of socks (a little too much on the socks, mom ;). I also got a Black Diamond Climbing helmet :) I didn't really get presents for anyone either (because I procrastinated and I'm going to do it in January), but I did find some funny things from around the house and wrapped them; i.e. I wrapped Sterling's soap and back scrubber and gave it to him as "the girl next door." mwa ha ha!

We also talked to Bruce and Sarka and their three cute kids on Skype (video conferencing over the web). That was really awesome. Lately we've been using it a lot. Bruce said he made foot prints in the ashed in their fire place to make it look like Santa had been there!

-------------
Today it hit me: everything I want to accomplish in life I don't do because I play video games. (Work out, write a book, build cool stuff, etc.) The reason I play them is to avoid "labor." Could I really give them up completely? I gave them up before to learn web design. I think I'll give them up again real soon to play with my RC Airplanes. What do you think?

Holiday Humbug

I am in Utah for Christmas. The reason I'm here is to move all my stuff to Arizona. I'm renting a small trailer and towing it with my Jeep :)

It's nice to spend one last Christmas together - again. Though this year I was major unprepared. I think I'll be giving everyone their presents in January! I did a little shopping today at Wal Mart (buying 88 cent gifts from the bins). Other than that I've realized that I forgot to calculate travel expenses into my budget - especially for the trailer rental. Plus, my car insurance bill is coming due in January... so it looks like the "extra" money I planned on is not so "extra" anymore :(

We're having a snow storm right now in UT which looks pretty cool to watch through the window inside a comfortable home. We made 18 plates of cookies to take to our neighbors. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas! Oh yeah, "Humbug!"

Now here are some PICTURES:

Jo got a late B-Day present from me...

And now some pictures from the drive to Utah:

Awww, snow in the face. I love it...

Me at a pretty princess party

Okay I guess I should explain... this is a birthday party for my friend Tamra. She likes to dress up and I figured that I would too, just this once. I think it turned out rather well, though it did worry my mom when she saw it. No mom, I'm not a drag queen! I'm just really good at playing pretty princess, as you can see!

NEW UPDATE

The Mesa Temple we went to...

Hannah pushed me around in a wheelchair...

Building my new Futon (finally a nice place to sleep!)...

Hannah likes it...
We like it...
Oh yeah, I hurt my foot too...

Man these past few weeks have been crazy and I'm going to sum it all up in a few sentences...
  1. I hurt my right foot from a Century Cactus wound and a bad sprain to the toe
  2. My new job is great and now I'm in the office a lot
  3. I bought a Futon so I can sleep better and I think it is great!
Well that's all for now, Later!

Anasazi trail, Robbie Williams, Mt. Lemmon

I finished my 15th week on the trail on Wednesday! Once again I was with a girls band. They were great and thought we had a hard hike through dry creek beds for 7 hours each day, I look back at the week and feel a sense of success. Everybody got along fine and we had some great laughs around the campfire at night.

I might start doing other responsibilities besides Trailwalker which I'm pretty exited about. I will tell you more about that when it happens.

I just discovered a new music artist: Robbie Williams. I really like these two songs: Rudebox and Viva a life on mars. His website looks a little "flamey" if you know what I mean, but the music he makes is pretty cool.

I am so glad to be here right now, though I really do MISS everybody who's still living it up in Utah and Idaho right now. It's a freezing 78 degrees today ;) I'm glad to say that I still think it's hot... I have the AC on almost all the time. People around me wear sweaters and I'm like... I wish I could take my shirt off right now!

Josh found a list of climbs here in Phoenix so this Saturday we're gonna check them out and also shoot up some old PC equipment with his shot gun :)

We went to Mt. Lemmon in Tucson last time... here are some pics...

Culture Shock, living with Josh, First Week Back

Arizona feels like a culture shock right now. It's not where I live or work, but the people I see walking down the street and it's the buildings - such as the Dairy Queen "shack" I passed while driving on the street. Something about the weather is different also. I guess I'm used to Idaho weather being very cold by now... but I just can't identify why I feel so off-beat right now.

Anyways, on a better note, I'm going to live with Josh in his new apartment! It's pretty cool. We can see the Mesa Temple from the living room window. He's got a pretty sweet computer and we're going to go rock climbing a lot.

My first week back on the trail was great. I was with a Youngwalker who was starting the trail. She was really fun to hike with and she sung this Tim McGraw song a lot. We had so much fun singing it especially since the other Trailwalker was getting sick and tired of that song! It just made us sing it more! It was also cool to see some familiar faces here at Anasazi.

AZ

From my Journal:

"Well I am leaving Utah today. I don't feel "ready" to go but I do feel like it's a logical decision. I kinda feel like I want to have something finished but I can't tell what it is. I've taken a long time to pack, well actually I've been packing fast, but I woke up very late, I just laid in bed and didn't want to move for hours. I'm about to turn off my computer to get it packed but I wanted to write in my journal first.

This weekend has been great: General Conference; Josh Mayo visited and we climbed at the bouldering gym in Salt Lake; Jo came down with Kori and their dogs. We had lots of fun and it was good to see everybody.

In a way, I feel like Arizona is far away, but on the bright side, I feel like I'm making a new life for myself - able to apply what I've learned on my mission again to my life. Preparing myself for a greater future. Finding the independence I want inside of me.

Two months ago I thought I would be working at a resort in St. George. But since having cold feet, living at my parent's house, working at KSL TV for two weeks, and searching for a direction in my life, I feel like Arizona is now the best place to realize a better future. In December I will be back in UT for Christmas."

Danger has a broken toe but she is ok

Work is fun and I am an anti-social and my dad broke his foot

Work has been a great experience so far... I get to edit the news stories that are broadcast to Utah Valley on channel 5, and I'm so good that they just leave me alone in an edit bay and let me do my thing.

Today I messed up one story a little by leaving a shot on too long - the anchor had to stall a little because of it. I always feel really dumb when my video doesn't match with how the anchor says the story. But then I feel great when it all lines up the right way. Other stories I did tonight worked out exactly!

My social life has been pretty much null since I work from 2-11 PM each day. I don't really talk much at work either. I just don't know what to say. It's not a crowd I'm used to being around. But I love going to work each day! It boosts my self-esteem so much to have an official 8-hour job each day.

We think my dad broke his foot tonight when he fell off the side porch. There is no railings there - just a three foot drop off. I guess he lost his footing. My mom is with him at the hospital right now.

New job

So far my new job has been an awesome experience... I get to edit news stories within minutes of them being aired on TV. The hours are weird, and i stick out as the "outdoorsy" person. But it's fun to have a job where they need my skills and not anybody can do it...

Nunchaku Intimidation!

Some of you may know that I own and practice with nun chucks. But they were padded and only for practice. NOW, I own an OPN III...

Boulder Me

So Sterling and Tolman and me went bouldering in Am. Fork Canyon and had a blast! You can read about it at Sterling's Blog. We're going to start taking video of our climbs and post them on the internet!

Jeep Vandalism

When I woke up this morning my Jeep looked like this...

Even though there was a big storm last night, this looks more like vandalism to me: check out the rock on the ground and the dent in the jeep...

And here is the dent, obviously a blow from the side and not from above...
Somebody did this. Somebody threw that rock. Luckily, nothing was stolen inside so all my rock climbing gear is still in tact!

Update: I just filed a police report and the officer said that this is the 16th report in the past two weeks. Apparently some "punk-kids" are going around with nothing better to do than this.
